Task Decomposition: How Flowo Breaks Overwhelming Tasks into Achievable Steps
· Maksym Bardakh Ivko
How a user-invoked task breakdown proposes editable steps and sends accepted steps to the deterministic scheduler.
From a broad item to observable steps
An item such as “Plan marketing campaign” does not identify a first observable action. Task breakdown can propose a sequence that the user reviews and edits.
Automatic Task Decomposition
Task breakdown is a user-invoked cloud feature, not the deterministic scheduler. Accepted subtasks can then receive their own slots through the scheduling engine.
For example, "Plan marketing campaign" might become:
- Research target audience (30 minutes)
- Write creative brief (45 minutes)
- Design visual assets (60 minutes)
- Review and publish (30 minutes)
Each step is concrete, time-bounded, and individually scheduled around your existing events and habits.
Why Small Steps Work
Gollwitzer (1999) discusses implementation intentions that people form themselves. Flowo's automatically proposed schedule is not equivalent evidence. The research supports a design rationale for specifying when to act, not a product-effect claim.
Pairs with Braindump
A captured note can be converted to a task, reviewed as steps, and passed to the scheduler. The user remains responsible for the inputs and for reviewing the generated steps and placements.
