Schedule Templates: Protecting Your Rest, Sleep, and Energy
· Mykhailo Boichuk
How sleep, meals, rest, category windows, events, and habits constrain candidate task placements.
Model boundaries before placing tasks
Flowo records daily boundaries and fixed commitments before evaluating task slots. These inputs make the constraints visible; they do not guarantee wellbeing or productivity outcomes.
How Schedule Templates Work
Before any auto-scheduling begins, you define Schedule Templates — protected blocks that the scheduling engine will never overwrite:
- Sleep blocks: Define your sleep schedule. No tasks will ever be placed during these hours.
- Meal times: Protect breakfast, lunch, and dinner as non-negotiable breaks.
- Rest periods: Block out downtime, exercise, or recovery windows.
- Category windows: Designate specific hours for types of work (e.g., deep work in the morning, meetings in the afternoon).
What the constraints do
Daily boundaries reduce the set of candidate slots available to the engine. If the requested work does not fit, the report can expose lateness, compression, shortfalls, or placement failure instead of hiding the conflict.
The scheduler works within the boundaries supplied by the user. Flowo has not measured whether this changes sleep, recovery, executive function, or task completion.
Habits for Consistency
Alongside templates, Flowo's Habits feature lets you set recurring activities that repeat automatically. Morning meditation, evening journaling, weekly reviews — these don't need to be re-entered each day. They flow naturally alongside your tasks and events, providing the consistency that traditional to-do lists can't offer.
