Habit Streaks and Task Re-Planning Are Separate

· Mykhailo Boichuk

Flowo includes optional habit streaks, but the task scheduler does not require a streak to place unfinished work again.

What the product actually includes

Flowo includes habit streak tracking. Streaks are optional and belong to habits; they are not a condition for scheduling or re-planning a task. Earlier copy that claimed Flowo had no streaks was incorrect.

What the Research Says

Deci and Ryan (2000) provide a broad account of autonomy and motivation. That theory does not establish that a particular streak design helps or harms Flowo users. The choice to keep task repair independent of streaks remains a product decision.

Flowo is designed around the opposite principle. When you fall behind:

  • Habit streaks remain visible only in the habit context.
  • The scheduler can propose new placements for unfinished work.
  • The effect of this separation on retention or task outcomes has not been measured.

What remains untested

Flowo has not established that its re-planning design improves completion, retention, motivation, or wellbeing. Those are research questions, not marketing claims.
